BEWARE OF SHOCKING REAL ESTATE SCAM happening right here in Northern Rhode Island!

Poser as owner of a substantial amount of real estate in RI and MA with fake license (confirmed by Smithfield and Lincoln Police) reached out to me to list Lot A. Problem is it was listed it with another brokerage before I could get it listed. When he figured out he was asking me to list Lot A that was already on the market, he asked me to list Lot B...

hmmm...

He did state he was out of town... and asked if it would be an issue. He did have real estate language, appeared knowledgable about land value, asked me to run comps for the second lot, agreed to commission, agreed to sign documents electronically, agreed to send over his license.... there were a few texts and a phone call, a license, an email.. with all of his first and some of his last name used in the email. (... yes, a couple of red flags).

But then, Meaghan Lewis, my associate found conflicting information online... the most important one was this man's OBITUARY!!!!

Land is an easy target. PLEASE BEWARE!!

I was told of another scam where land was sold and a house was built on it by the new owners. Not sure if it is true, however, after dealing with this week's scammer, I believe it could happen.

SHRED EVENT this Saturday, 9a-12p at new office location - parking lot - 85 Industrial Circle, Lincoln, RI 02865.

We have co-sponsored this event for the past seven years with Slatersville Navigant Credit Union, however, have branched off this year due to our recent move to Lincoln.

Proudly, many of our industry-wide vendors have co-sponsored this event and will actually be here working on Saturday.

Any donations will go directly to the local animal shelter representative who will be here to accept on behalf of the Blackstone Valley Animal Shelter.

Sponsors are welcome for $100. You will be included in marketing for this event as well as being posted on Cooperative Real Estate Professionals website as a local vendor.

If you have any brochures and/or promotional material, items can be added into the bag of goodies that will be handed out to each participant during the event.

Attendance is not required but welcomed.

Lunch on-site will be provided after the event is over.
