Today, we put an end to an illegal agreement between Zillow and Redfin that prevented them from competing. Last year, Zillow paid Redfin $100 million to shut down its multi family rental advertising business and stay out of the market for up to 9 years.

This unfair and anticompetitive agreement between two listing giants would have jacked up costs for property managers, and renters would have been the ones to pay the ultimate price. We sued, and today's settlement forces a return to fair competition and choice.

We will continue to use every inch of our joint state and federal law enforcement authority to drive down housing costs.

Rob Zombie’s former Connecticut mansion, known as the Origami House, has hit the market for $6.5 million. The White Zombie founder and heavy metal musician purchased the home in 2022 while starting his Freaks on Parade U.S. tour, then sold it two years later to the current owner for just under $5 million. Designed by Manhattan-based Leroy Street Studio, the accordion-like residence sits on more than 15 acres and was shaped around folded, cube-like structures, giving the Origami House its name. The Stonington Town Clerk’s office is pleased to announce we have implemented Cott Systems’ PropertyCheck in a renewed effort to combat property and mortgage fraud. This 24/7 service allows residents to sign up to receive notifications when official documents are recorded under their name on the Stonington Land Records. Residents may activate alerts based on their name only, address and parcel ID alerts are not available.

PropertyCheck works seamlessly in the background of the Town Clerk’s Office records management software, automatically searching thousands of documents and sending a text or email notification only if a match is found. The Town partners with Cott Systems to offer this no-cost solution, adding an additional layer of protection and allowing residents to feel safer in their homes.

Emergency Water Ban Westerly Water Customers

Effective Immediately
Westerly Water is enacting an emergency water ban for all of its customers prohibiting the use of all residential outdoor water use. This action is the result of recent drought conditions combined with increased water use due to extreme heat. Prohibited activities include but are not limited to the watering of lawns, filling of pools and washing of vehicles, homes and decks. Westerly Water is asking all residents and visitors for their cooperation in this effort to restore critical water levels within the system.
This ban will remain in effect until further notice and updates will be provided. Those found to be in violation may be subject to fines and penalties through Westerly Water. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation.
