On most clear evenings you can see the light from the Frying Pan looking south from the Proud Pelican. Look just to the right of the walkway down to the beach and you'll see the flashing light 30+ miles offshore.

😂 32 miles offshore. No neighbors. No HOA. No DoorDash.

Frying Pan Tower has spent decades getting slapped around by hurricanes, baked by the sun, and assaulted by saltwater—and somehow, she’s still standing.

At this point, we’re pretty sure she survives entirely out of spite. 😂

And if somebody says, “I’m just gonna swing by real quick,” you’ve got over 30 miles of ocean to prepare yourself.

Happy Labor Day from the Proud Pelican! It’s a beautiful end of the summer day here on Topsail!

For those who haven’t experienced North Carolina beaches, these photos were taken yesterday afternoon in front of the Proud Pelican. Notice the wide-open shoreline—no wall-to-wall beach blankets, no vendors, no blaring music, no litter, and no large flocks of seagulls often seen on many northern beaches. Once you experience the beaches of North Carolina, you’ll understand why so many visitors keep coming back year after year.
