Dollar General to open 1,000 Popshelf stores aimed at wealthier clientele. People frequently ask me how badly retail is doing in the pandemic. I think most are surprised to hear that (while it is changing) the majority of retail is performing as strongly as ever.

Dollar General plans to expand its Popshelf chain to about 1,000 locations. The new format helps the discounter attract suburban customers and drive up profits.

A lot of people ask me how bad retail is faring amidst the COVID backdrop. In reality, the majority of retail is performing very well right now. While there are a few sectors that continue to feel impacts, the majority of retail stores are back on track, or even increasing from previous high points, as described in the below article.
