Make this the summer of music in the parks! From bluegrass and Americana to folk, rock-inspired favorites, and old-time swing, there’s something for every music lover to enjoy. Gather your family and friends, and experience free live performances at Buffalo Creek Retreat, The Lodge at Allardale, and Shotwell Gardens at Lake Medina. You can even join in the fun during our interactive Rhythm Circle!

Wadsworth Community Band Concert
Buffalo Creek Retreat - 7 to 8:30 p.m.
8708 Hubbard Valley Road, Seville
The Wadsworth Community Band, under the direction of Pat Santelli, will present this free, old fashioned band concert with lively tunes for all to enjoy! The concert will be held outside at Buffalo Creek Retreat or be moved indoors in the case of inclement weather. Bring a lawn chair, your family and friends, and join us for a wonderful evening of music and community fellowship. To learn more about the Wadsworth Community Band, follow on Facebook . This month, Morning Star Bluegrass Band will fill the lodge with the sounds of bluegrass, gospel, and Americana music in a style reminiscent of the Bluegrass sounds of the 1930s and 40s. Join us for a toe tapping good time as this band’s energy is contagious! Concert will be held inside the Lodge. Authorized service animals only; no pets allowed in the building. All ages are welcome. No registration is required. Free.

This month, enjoy music from Circle of Friends, a group that loves to share positive energy and joy with its rock/folk inspired music performed on acoustic guitar, stand up bass, percussion, and keyboard. The group’s original and cover songs weave together a tapestry of melodies that inspire and uplift one’s spirit. Circle of Friends also celebrates our relationship with the natural world through songs and stories. Concert will be held inside the Lodge. Ohio Regional Music Arts and Cultural Outreach (ORMACO)
& Friends of Medina County Parks present:
An Evening of Old Timey Music
with the Back Porch Swing Band
Buffalo Creek Retreat - 7 p.m.
The Back Porch Swing Band plays a variety of good ‘old timey’ music ranging from Americana standards and early country to foot-tapping swing and early rock and roll. It is the perennial house band for the summer square dances at Malabar Farms, where it plays traditional square dance songs and other swinging favorites to hundreds of dancers. The Back Porch Swing Band can also be found playing summer music programs in gazebos and bandshells throughout Ohio and beyond. The program is free. For more information call 419-853-6016.

Rhythm Circle
Shotwell Gardens at Lake Medina - 7 to 8 p.m.
Using our bodies, drums, and other percussion instruments, we will celebrate the beauty of nature and community in this music circle. No previous experience is needed . . . just a sense of fun! Rhythm Circles develop creative expression, cooperation, listening skills, whole brain learning, and community. Please register because of limited seating in the amphitheater. The event will be cancelled if it rains. All ages are welcome. ***Register by July 26. Free.

Mastin, a lifelong musician with deep ties to the local scene, spent years touring the country with various ensembles. He joins forces with Jackson Boling, a versatile staple of the Akron and Cleveland music communities, for a must see collaboration. Concert will be held inside the Lodge. Authorized service animals only; no pets allowed in the building. All ages are welcome. No registration is required. Free.

Drumroll, please… 🥁 The Blimp Day map is officially HERE! This Saturday, June 6, both Goodyear Blimps will be cruising over all 24 of our neighborhoods. They’ll loop around in a big spiral through each section, so no matter where you are, you’ll have a great chance to spot them. Keep your eyes on the sky—it’s going to be a blast!

➡️ 9:30-10am: Ellet, East Akron, Middlebury, & Goodyear Heights
➡️ 10-10:30am: Chapel Hill, Cascade Valley, & North Hill
➡️ 10:30-11am: Merriman Valley, Merriman Hills, Wallhaven, Fairlawn Heights, Northwest Akron, & High Hampton
