🏡The $12,000 photo!🏡
This is what a collapsed sewer line looks like, and for most people I hope they never have to deal with it...
Known as Orangeburg it was used as Sewer pipe from the late 1800's to 1970's until it was replaced with PVC. The problem with it is over time it starts to flatten as the pressure from the ground settling on it and it always being in a wet location cause this. The sewer line in the picture is roughly 75 ft long from the house to the street and is estimated to cost $12,000 to repair if the line needs to be dug all the way to the connection at the city sewer located 20ft down in the middle of the city street $$$.
Long story short if you are looking at a home built somewhere in the late 1800's to 1970 make sure you get a sewer inspection unless they have proof the sewer has all ready been replaced.
Sewer inspections cost $150 to $300 that could end up saving you up to $20,000+
This is something a seasoned Real Estate Agent should suggest with a home inspection once they know the age of the home.
