Tales from the Trenches: The Lease Buyout Deal

My sellers needed to move due to health changes. One problem: they had just signed a 2-year lease with tenants. Most agents would have said, "Let's wait it out." We didn't.

Through Top Agent Network, we found a buyer. That opened the door to a full lease buyout negotiation, timing coordination between buyers, tenants, and sellers, and eventually a real estate attorney drafting a formal lease addendum.

Another successful close at 614 Tamalpais Dr in Corte Madera, and this one was especially rewarding.

I had the opportunity to represent the buyers, who are valued repeat clients of mine. There’s nothing better than continuing to support clients through different chapters of their real estate journey.

We secured this home in a competitive environment with strong, non-contingent terms and a 14-day close. It was a great example of how preparation and strategy can make all the difference.

Like many transactions, this one came with a few curveballs. A PG&E-related project caused some delays along the way, but through collaboration and problem-solving, we were able to keep things moving forward.

Big thank you to Eric McFarland for being a fantastic partner on the other side. Deals like this only happen when both sides are committed to solutions.
