Love seeing this push for accountability!!!
Remember, insurance policys are contracts. The resulting claim payments aren't a loan or a favor, they are the result of a covered event that triggered a clause in these contracts.

Let’s do another one!!

If you aren’t familiar with us yet, we are Guiding Light Public Adjusters supporting property & homeowners during the claim process while staying faithful, honest and true.

Our lead public adjuster and owner Nathan, has seen all sides of the playing field in the insurance industry and wanted to be the first PA in Northeast MO to represent the client and advocate what’s best for them, their properties and their claim.
Working in multiple facets of the insurance industry, Nathan pieced together quickly that the insurance companies are NOT always working on the clients behalf but better yet, their own.

Feeling led to take action, especially for his home town and loved ones, Nathan quickly passed his Public Insurance exam and completed his qualifications to be the first PA licensed min the area to advocate for YOU and your best needs.

Follow for more informative information you might not know about the insurance industry and tips on what to do for your best interests.

Here are some tips for preparing your home for cold temperatures:

𝕀𝕟𝕤𝕦𝕝𝕒𝕥𝕖 𝕡𝕚𝕡𝕖𝕤
*Prevent pipes from freezing by insulating exposed pipes, especially those in the garage. You can also add heat cables to exposed pipes.

𝕀𝕟𝕤𝕦𝕝𝕒𝕥𝕖 𝔻𝕠𝕠𝕣𝕤
*Insulate outer doors; including the garage door and keep the garage as warm as possible. If your garage has water lines, install a space heater and add heat cables to exposed pipes.

ℂ𝕒𝕦𝕝𝕜 𝕒𝕟𝕕 𝕎𝕖𝕒𝕥𝕙𝕖𝕣 𝕊𝕥𝕣𝕚𝕡
*Seal gaps around doors and windows with caulk or weather stripping to prevent drafts.

ℙ𝕣𝕖𝕡𝕒𝕣𝕖 𝕗𝕠𝕣 ℙ𝕠𝕨𝕖𝕣 𝕆𝕦𝕥𝕒𝕘𝕖𝕤
*Be prepared for power outages, which can be more frequent and last longer during extreme weather. Sources of heat can also be lost during this time.

𝕂𝕖𝕖𝕡 𝕎𝕒𝕥𝕖𝕣 𝕄𝕠𝕧𝕚𝕟𝕘
In very cold temperatures, allow faucets to drip to keep a small amount of water moving through pipes.

𝕂𝕖𝕖𝕡 𝕀𝕟𝕤𝕚𝕕𝕖 𝕋𝕖𝕞𝕡𝕤 ℂ𝕠𝕟𝕤𝕚𝕤𝕥𝕖𝕟𝕥
*Avoid setting the thermostat too low, as this can leave plumbing vulnerable to the cold.

As snow melts, key tips include:

✔️Check gutters and downspouts:
Ensure they are clear of debris to allow melted snow to drain properly and prevent ice dams from forming.
✔️Clear drainage areas:
Remove snow from around storm drains and other drainage points to facilitate water flow and prevent flooding.
✔️Roof snow removal:
For heavy snow accumulation, consider removing snow from your roof to reduce the risk of structural damage.
✔️Protect plants:
Cover sensitive plants with frost blankets or burlap to shield them from sudden temperature fluctuations as the snow melts.
✔️Be cautious on walkways and roads:
Watch for slippery spots and use caution when walking or driving on melting snow, especially on shaded areas where ice may remain longer.
✔️Use de-icing products strategically:
Apply de-icing products like salt or a commercial ice melt to high-traffic areas like steps and driveways to help melt snow and ice quickly.
✔️Monitor for potential flooding:
If you live in an area prone to flooding, keep a close eye on the melting snow and be prepared to take action if necessary.
✔️Consider using a snow shovel with a scraper:
This can help remove both snow and ice from surfaces more effectively

To Prevent Frozen or Burst Pipes follow our tips and guidelines below: ⬇️

➡️Maintain a warm indoor temperature:
Set your thermostat to a temperature above 55°F, especially during cold snaps.
➡️Let faucets drip:
A slow trickle of water from faucets on exterior walls can prevent ice from forming inside the pipes.
➡️Insulate exposed pipes:
Wrap exposed pipes in unheated areas with pipe insulation to help maintain their temperature.
➡️Access to cabinet doors:
Open cabinet doors under sinks near exterior walls to allow warm air to circulate around pipes.
➡️Winterize outdoor faucets and crawl space(s):
Before freezing weather arrives, shut off the water supply to outdoor faucets and drain any remaining water. Cover crawl spaces or exposed under siding.

IF YOU DO NOT take precautions during the preparation time during a snow storm warning, your insurance may not cover you according to policy.
Let that NOT happen to you this winter❄️🧊
