Some towns have a walking trail. Anacortes has one that crosses the water.
The 3.3-mile Tommy Thompson Trail connects downtown Anacortes with March Point, following Fidalgo Bay and crossing the old railroad trestle. Walk it, bike it, watch for wildlife, or simply stop long enough to take in the view.
It is the kind of local spot that can turn an ordinary afternoon into something memorable.
