The Love Shack was built before 1954, when Hurricane Hazel hit Oak Island. Almost every house on Oak Island was destroyed. THe Love Shack survived-it was knocked off its moorings and washed into the trees, only to be hauled back and reset on pilings after the hurricane. Bob and I bought the house over Labor Day 2014, and we have attempted to make this a lovely little honeymoon cottage/getaway beach house for families. Hopefully, the house feels 1950's kitsch, as if you are a kid, vacationing with you family.
