Changes in real estate are inevitable. There’s always a new “big hurdle” we’re told will change the business forever.

In the ’90s, agency changed the way we did business. Then we went from faxing contracts to emailing them. Seller disclosures became a thing. Then came radon testing. We’ve worked through sky-high interest rates and watched them fall all the way down to 2%.

More recently, we’ve tackled major changes in how buyers and their agents work together. Now it’s AI, which some people fear—but I wholeheartedly embrace. And the latest change? A whole new way of doing appraisals.

And guess what? Six months from now, there will probably be something else.

After 38 years in this business, I’ve learned one thing for certain:

You have to be adaptable.

You can complain about change. You can fight it. Or you can learn it, adjust to it, and figure out how to use it to better serve your clients.

Adaptability isn’t optional in this business. It’s how you stay in this business.

When the sellers want to talk commission 🤦🏽‍♀️. How many of us have had “the talk”😬

When you’re bringing 38 years of experience to the table, a proven track record, a response time that’s unbeatable and a dedication to this business that’s unmatched… Yes, you still have to address the elephant in the room. But in the end, I will say that most of my sellers have always felt that I went above and beyond and that’s what makes the process and the negotiations worth it.

Most people have absolutely no idea how much time goes into a real estate transaction behind the scenes.

Even with AI, technology, and personal assistants making our lives easier, there are just certain things that you, the Realtor, have to spend your own time on. The phone calls, negotiations, problem-solving, follow-up, details, and all the little things nobody ever sees.

And after all these years, one thing hasn’t changed…

You’ve gotta love what you do. ❤️🏡
