Our hearts are filled with sadness and gratitude as we remember an amazing man and former KSP employee, Mr. Bill. His famous smile and caring heart will live forever in our memory ❤️

WILLIAM ALBERT NEILL

It is with a mixture of sadness and joy that we announce the passing of William Albert “Mr. Bill” Neill peacefully in his home on May 30, 2026. The warmth and sense of humor that he carried thru life will be sorely missed by all who knew him but we rejoice in the certainty that he is with Jesus.

Mr. Bill was born on a fall day in 1942 in Houston, TX and was a man of energy and accomplishments from the start. He spent his teen years working various jobs and volunteering at the Spring Branch Fire Dept. until he turned 21 and could officially join the ranks of professional firefighters. He quickly advanced to become one of the youngest Assistant Chiefs in the department before leaving in 1974 to join the Woodlands Fire Department as the first paid fire chief in the fledgling community. Even in the early days, the Woodlands was known for it’s state of the art alarm system and excellence in community service and protection. Chief Neill spoke at conferences as far away as Seattle and Nova Scotia to give presentations to other departments on the systems used in the Woodlands.

Community service was a passion for Bill and his wife Glenda. They served their community side by side in many ways over the years. While he was chief, she volunteered on the ambulance, he delivered rescue training while she not only attended but could often be found doing the make up to create fake wounds in the rescue simulations, he fought fires while she photographed the action for review later always with an eye to improving techniques. Together they loved on more than 40 foster children over several years in Montgomery County. One of the things Mr. Bill was most proud of was serving on the Montgomery County Youth Services Board and helping in the creation of the Montgomery County Child Advocacy Center which continues serving children and their families today as Children’s Safe Harbor.

When he left the the fire service, Mr. Bill brought the same energy, joy for working with people and commitment to excellence to his new career, real estate. His unique knowledge of the Spring/Woodlands area from its early days combined with his charm and humor to make him a Top Producer and leader in his field. He absolutely loved staying on top of community development trends and new real estate laws culminating in his role as a consultant and trainer to other agents.

His joy in social events was never ending - he at times acted as MC for the Woodlands Taste of the Town, the Oak Ridge 4th of July festivities and many more community events. He could also always be counted on to put in an appearance as the Easter bunny or Santa.

But what he loved even more than his community and the people in it was Jesus. As a teen he had been led to a relationship with the Lord by his employer and friend J. B. Dot who saw to it that he was baptized . It was a special memory for him and one of the ones that stuck with him even when so much else had slipped away. He and Glenda were active in their church families over the years serving as Sunday school teachers, youth leaders, and in various other ministries. In his final years he still enjoyed serving in the food pantry and sanctuary at WoodsEdge. His Christian faith was the cornerstone of his life and the driving force behind his enthusiastic service to his fellow man.
His years with the fire department made him a fabulous cook and inveterate practical joker - traits he would carry through all the years of his life. He was especially known for his Thanksgiving stuffing and ability to combine the most random leftovers to create a masterpiece. He loved silly jokes, goofy stories and never took himself too seriously - whether dressed as Elvis or Marilyn Monroe or being “incarcerated” for a fundraiser, he just loved to make folks happy. Something his many friends can attest to!

Besides good food and a good laugh, he really really loved his family. He treasured his “lovely bride” Glenda (who passed in 2019) and her family as well becoming a part of the Chickasaw Nation in spirit even if he wasn’t one by birth. He was an amazing father and grandfather who was there steadfastly for his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren (after practicing by being an amazing uncle to his nieces and nephews.)

He was a problem solver, a creator and a man of many talents. He excelled at professional photography (even the “old time” kind with costumes) and woodworking which he and Glenda sold at fairs like the Woodlands Harvest Festival. He built things and along the way did the same with people - mentoring, befriending, encouraging and just loving on people. Mr. Bill was a man of integrity who loved to acknowledge the people who shaped his life and never missed an opportunity to pay it forward.

He will be joining his lovely bride Glenda for a final trip to Oklahoma as it was their wish to have their ashes spread in the boundaries of the Chickasaw Nation where a family celebration of life will be held. If your heart leads you to a gift in his memory, please support one of the causes he loved and served - Children’s Safe Harbor. Our family extends sincere, heartfelt gratitude to the many friends he gathered over the years. Every one of you was a joy in his life. We especially want to thank the lovely professionals at Aspire Hospice and A Place Like Home for their gentle care and steadfast attention in his final year. The moniker “Mr. Bill” may have started as the name of a goofy clay character in a Saturday Night Live skit but over the years it has come to mean so much more to the folks who knew and loved “our” Mr. Bill. It will remind so many of us of what it looks like to see someone love God and love others just as we were intended to do.
