This past weekend I went through the Lincoln Park neighborhood. Although there are numerous reasons to love Lincoln Park, I’m about to give you a new one simply because I found one!
⠀
⭐️ Fons (plant-based) Empanadas located on Clark St. and Wrightwood Ave. Yuuuuuum! ⭐️
⠀
I ordered a variety box ahead, along with a jar of their garlic sauce (please don’t judge me but I love garlic), and a Blue Matcha Latte. I was trying to decide whether to do the latte with lemonade or almond milk. I was told the almond milk option makes it taste like a blueberry scone. It’s exactly what I chose and it did not disappoint!
⠀
As I entered, I was greeted by the proud owners of the establishment, a husband and wife duo Daniel and Daniela. They were welcoming and gracious. I asked them what made them open Fons Empanadas, and they have informed me that empanadas are a popular dish in their home country of Venezuela, which is the main inspiration for their establishment. As a big fan of Latin American dishes exploring a plant-based path, I love having a plant-based empanada option in the city.
⠀
The 12 variety pack, which is what I got, is served in a reusable box, that will earn you an extra empanada when you bring the box to reuse for your next order. The straw in my drink was paper made as well.
⠀
Fons Empanadas is not only delicious, but also environmentally conscious. I’ve enjoyed every option I’ve purchased. Whether you’re a regular fan of plant-based food or not, these empanadas are a treat to have along with their delicious garlic sauce! You’ll love them!
