I rarely post anything of my own on here, but I wanted to take a moment to recognize our pretty awesome UPS driver. On my way to the Veterans Day parade, I noticed the package he left for us in the shop. While this is a relatively small act, the fact that he took the time to leave a note like this, says a lot about him as a person and was very much appreciated. So Dylan, thanks for taking the extra 15 seconds!

Since you can’t see radon gas and it is odorless and tasteless, this is a really cool cloud chamber demonstration to allow you to “see” radon in a basement!

We just got to spend a few days at the Fantech facility in Lenexa, KS. They did a fantastic job of hosting K-States’ Advanced Diagnostics course. And as always, Bruce Snead and Chad Robinson put out some very useful information. A big thank you to everyone that was involved in providing this opportunity. Looking forward to the next course at Fantech. And don’t forget that January is Radon Action Month. Test your house or book a test or mitigation installation today!

I spent my lunch today listening to a pretty good presentation about “Generation Z” in the work force that was really informative and surprising. Good job NWKTC President Ben Schears! Afterwards I sat on the Advisory Board meeting for the carpentry program. Things have changed a lot since I went through the program. But with Mr. Woodrow back in the drivers seat, they seem to be adapting well. Great group of future builders also that chose to hang around after being released to take part in our discussion.

This week is fire prevention week. Do you have an escape plan for your family in the event of a fire? Does everyone know what to do and where to meet once outside the house? This is also a good time to check smoke/carbon monoxide detectors and fire extinguishers. This escape ladder in our sons room is relatively easy to install and operate. Kayden loves practicing and can do all of the steps on his own. From opening the window to deploying the ladder and crawling down. While it is fun for kids to do this, it's very important to stress the seriousness of the drill because there's a good chance that if this ladder is needed, they will be alone and need to know how to do everything on their own. There are many resources available, both within the community as well as online, to help you establish a good escape plan and additional safety measures that you can take.

Just wrapped up the 2017 Region 7 Radon Stakeholders Meeting in Manhatten. We had a full day with a lot of really good people putting out some very useful information. KState did an outstanding job of hosting the event!
