Most owners' biggest fear about switching to short-term is that strangers will trash the place. The opposite is usually true. Long-term tenants can go months without reporting a problem, because reporting it means letting someone into a home that's now full of their own things. Short-term guests don't have that hesitation.

That's also why most accidental guest damage is covered. If something happens, it's handled, not just absorbed by the owner.

Plenty keep your property clean, keep the reviews decent, and handle the basics fine. But somewhere between listing it on one platform, setting a rate once and leaving it, and skipping the slow months entirely, revenue quietly stops being anyone's responsibility.
