🚨 PUBLIC ASSISTANCE REQUEST 🚨
The Ocean City Fire Department, Office of the Fire Marshal, is requesting the public's assistance regarding a dune grass fire that occurred on Saturday, June 20, 2026, at approximately 9:21 p.m.

The fire burned a significant area of dune grass along the beach in the area of 116th and 117th Street.

Preliminary findings indicate the fire may have been caused by the illegal use of fireworks.

Anyone who witnessed the incident, has information, photographs, or video footage is asked to contact Investigator David Marquez with the Ocean City Fire Department, Office of the Fire Marshal, at [email protected]

Dune grass plays a critical role in protecting our coastline from erosion and storm impacts. We appreciate the community's assistance as this investigation continues.

A reminder for everyone who travels in and out of Ocean City: in 15 days, the Harry W. Kelley Memorial Bridge (US 50) will be closed and traffic detoured to allow for rehabilitation work.

Plan ahead now, expect delays, and give yourself extra travel time once the detour begins on JANUARY 20, 2026.
