I want to share an opportunity for our community to help neighbors in need. The City of Ocean Springs is collecting donations for Ashland, Mississippi, a small rural community in Benton County near the Tennessee border that was hit hard by recent severe weather.

Ashland is home to about 650 residents, many of them older adults living in rural areas. While support has already been provided by the Cajun Navy and the National Guard, additional help is still greatly needed.

We are collecting Visa or MasterCard gift cards, along with blankets, adult diapers/Depends, Ensure or other protein drinks, feminine hygiene products, and basic toiletries.

Donations may be dropped off at all three Ocean Springs Fire Stations or at City Hall. Items will be delivered on February 16 or 17.

Ocean Springs has always stepped up when others are in need, and we appreciate any support our community is able to give.

Ocean Springs is proud to take part in the March of the Mayors, a statewide canned food drive coordinated by Extra Table to support local food pantries.

Our community is collecting canned fruit now through February 27. Donations can be dropped off at any Ocean Springs Fire Station or at City Hall.

Let’s come together to support our neighbors in need and make a difference—one can at a time.
