Today we honor Juneteenth, the federal holiday marking the end of slavery in the United States.

On June 19, 1865, two and a half years after the Emancipation Proclamation was signed, Union troops arrived in Galveston, Texas to inform the last enslaved people in the country that they were free. We reflect on this day to honor the freedom and history it represents.

Civilians will receive a DBIDS pass once a boarding contract is completed which allows 24/7 stables access through the San Luis Rey gate. Able to be sponsored aboard to view the facility on select days.

We will be sponsoring on potential boarders 27-June from 1000-1030 to view the facility. If you decide to board your horse here, and have attended the event, you will receive $50 off your first months board. Please contact us for more information.

Memorial Day is a time to pause and remember the service members who gave their lives for our country, honoring their sacrifice and the freedoms we hold today. Originally known as Decoration Day, this tradition began after the Civil War, when families and communities gathered to decorate the graves of fallen soldiers with flowers and flags.

Today, one of the ways we continue that tradition is through the American flag. On Memorial Day, the flag is flown at half-staff from sunrise until noon as a symbol of mourning for those we’ve lost. At noon, it is raised to full-staff to honor their lives and the legacy they leave behind.

We honor and remember those who gave their lives for our freedom.
