🌟My Testimony - September is Brain Aneurysm Awareness Month 🌟
As we step into September, I want to share a deeply personal journey with all of you. Last November, I was diagnosed with a brain aneurysm—a life-altering moment that I kept largely to myself. Everyone asks what my symptoms were and to keep it simple, it was completely coincidental that it was found. The symptoms I was having were completely unrelated and just due to stress. As I decided to move forward with surgery, most of you were unaware of what was happening behind the scenes, as I continued working as usual and focused on staying strong during this challenging time.
In February, I voluntarily/proactively underwent a craniotomy brain surgery (clipping) at UT Southwestern in Dallas. I was given multiple options including “just watching it”, but I chose the most aggressive route with plans of a full recovery and to never look back on this. Remarkably, even from the ICU, I was able to bounce back pretty quickly (especially when Stan told me I had over 100 text messages. lol ) While real estate is my passion, my health and well-being had to be my primary focus for a short while there.
I want to extend my heartfelt gratitude to some incredible individuals who supported me during this journey. Special thanks to my husband, my kids, close friends, my transaction coordinator, Connie, and everyone at Basin Abstract. These were the few people I confided in to ensure everything would run smoothly in my absence.
I’m thrilled to share that my recovery was surprisingly short! I was back to my normal life in less than 2 weeks rather than the 2-6 months my neurosurgeon predicted. You all know me better than that—nothing keeps me down for long!
This experience has taught me the importance of listening to our bodies and slowing down! Brain aneurysms can be silent and deadly, but awareness can make a world of difference. I urge everyone to be mindful of any unusual symptoms and to seek help when in doubt.
Thank you for being a part of my journey and for your support during this time. Let’s continue to spread awareness and take care of one another. 💙
