Indian Citizenship Act of 1924

During World War I, there was a high rate of military enlistment from Native American communities. President Calvin Coolidge took note and was so inspired that he signed the Indian Citizenship Act. By an act of Congress on June 2, 1924, all indigenous peoples born in the US were granted citizenship. However, the right to vote was governed by State law so, until 1957, some States didn't allow Native Americans to vote.
