Happy Father’s Day 2026! 👔✨
While we enjoy the cards and barbecues today, I love remembering how this holiday began. In 1909, Sonora Smart Dodd wanted to honor her single father, William, a Civil War veteran who raised six children alone. Her dedication eventually caught the attention of local communities, and by 1972, Father's Day was officially established as a permanent national holiday.
Dodd knew what research proves today: a supportive father figure deeply transforms lives, building resilience, security, and self-esteem.
Beyond the statistics, a father's role is a profound spiritual calling. I feel this deeply on a personal level. I was truly blessed to have a complete family, and though my father passed away at 62, his legacy guides me daily. His example taught me the vital importance of being accountable, respectful, caring, and instilling a deep faith in God. 🙏❤️
Today, we also recognize that many families are struggling, and parenting takes many beautiful forms. Guidance can come from many different people. Dads—and those who step into that role—model love and strength right at the kitchen table, turning a house into a true home.
My challenge to you today: Please take a moment to thank the men and women who provide support, care, and a listening ear. Some may spend this day alone, away from loved ones. Let’s acknowledge them with a smile, a handshake, and a kind word. 😊🤝
