🚧 Major Improvements Coming to Garth Brooks Boulevard 🚧
Long-Term Overlay Project Begins July 28

Big improvements are on the way for one of Yukon’s busiest thoroughfares. Beginning July 28, 2025, a major Overlay Project will begin on Garth Brooks Boulevard, stretching from Andrew Drive to Health Center Parkway. The project is expected to last approximately 315 days.

This comprehensive upgrade will bring long-lasting benefits to drivers, pedestrians, and the overall flow of traffic. Improvements include:
• Road resurfacing for a smoother and safer driving experience
• New turn lanes to ease congestion
• Traffic signal upgrades for improved efficiency
• New sidewalks and walking trails to support pedestrian safety and connectivity

To complete these enhancements, traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction—northbound and southbound—on Garth Brooks Boulevard in the construction zone. The I-40 on- and off-ramps at Garth Brooks will also be affected during this time.

City officials recognize that this is a high-impact project and appreciate the public’s patience as crews work to make Garth Brooks Boulevard safer, more efficient, and more accessible. Should you have any questions or concerns, Yukon Public Works is ready to help at 405-350-8940.

Live Christmas Tree Disposal Offered by Yukon Sanitation Services 🎄

Yukon utility customers may dispose of their used live Christmas tree curbside during a three-week period, according to the City of Yukon’s Sanitation Services Department.

From December 26, 2024, through January 10, 2025, Sanitation Services will pick up used Christmas trees placed at the curb for free. The service is for live trees only. No artificial trees are accepted.

Live trees must be prepared by removing all decorations, lights, and any metal, such as tree stands and ornaments. They should not be placed inside a plastic bag. These actions will assist Sanitation personnel, who will use a chipper to dispose of the trees.

During the designated dates, residents may place their live tree at the curb during their neighborhood’s routine trash collection day. Residents are asked to observe the designated three-foot minimum distance around their polycart when placing the trees at the curb so that it does not interfere with the automated trash truck that empties carts. A different truck and crew will go through the neighborhoods to collect the live trees.
