🪦💀 As a Buyers Agent finishing my 9th year in this industry, I’ve read my own professional obituary multiple times online. Fears about platforms like Zillow, Redfin or OpenDoor replacing us, worries over the highly contentious NAR class action lawsuit eliminating our roles, and now AI, I’ve heard it all. ✋
The truth is, AI will not replace us. It can do a lot of things, most of them being on a computer screen, but serving buyers in a well-rounded capacity isn’t one of them.
As buyers agents, we sometimes work with a buyer for months to years. We get to know their families and they become our friends. We work alongside their lender, helping them to resolve credit issues, understand their loan and meet deadlines. We work directly with the title companies to connect all parties, examine title work, solve problems and get clients to the closing table. We form close relationships (or battle to the death) with listing agents on behalf of our clients, in order to serve as solid advocates. We serve as family counselors, helping them navigate emotions that come along with buying a home and moving. We walk the properties multiple times with them and point out irregularities, flaws, potential money pit items or safety concerns. We spend years building reputations with third-party service providers that assist us throughout the transaction (think home inspectors, licensed measures, pest control, structural engineers, appraisers, general contractors etc.)
AI can’t replace us, but it can push us to identify gaps that might exist in our current processes, so that we serve at a higher level than ever.
My clients thank me repeatedly and I often hear that they couldn’t have done it without me. ❤️ Trust me when I say even the most intelligent computer program can’t replace a great buyers agent. I’m not going anywhere! 💪🏻
