For four decades, Oklahoma City toasted the New Year at Opening Night. That tradition eventually converged with the Thunder New Year’s Eve game, and downtown was electric well past midnight.

And then Opening Night came to an end. Since 2022, we have just watched other cities celebrate on TV. Only four U.S. cities in the top 20 currently have no public celebration when the clock strikes midnight, and OKC has been on that list.

The year 2025 deserves a party, and so does our city, and so I was excited to announce today at Scissortail Park that on December 31st, 2025, a New Year’s Eve countdown and celebration will return to downtown OKC! The NYE PARTY IN THE PARK will welcome residents to Scissortail Park from 9:30 p.m. through midnight to enjoy live music, food and drink vendors, and a countdown to 2026, followed by a drone show made possible by Inasmuch Foundation.

Once again, we will celebrate the New Year together in OKC! See you there!
