Step cracking on the home indicates possible differential settlement. Which is fancy wording for part of the house is settling at a faster rate than the other. These however are separate from the foundation and not structural components of the home. Just because it looks scary doesn't mean it is

Most people assume shingles are waterproof… they’re not.

Architectural shingles are a water-shedding roof covering, which means they rely on gravity to move water off the roof. When they’re installed on a roof that’s too flat, water drains too slowly, increasing the risk of leaks, premature wear, and damage.

Most architectural shingles require a minimum slope of 2:12 with special underlayment, and many manufacturers recommend 4:12 or steeper for a standard installation. If the roof is flatter than that, it’s time for a roofing system designed for low-slope applications—not shingles.

Most homeowners don’t realize that one of the cheapest items in their house can have one of the biggest impacts on their HVAC system.

A dirty air filter restricts airflow, forcing your heating and cooling system to work harder than it should. That can mean higher energy bills, reduced efficiency, and unnecessary wear over time.

The good news? It’s an easy fix.

✅ Check your filter every month.
✅ Replace it every 1–3 months (or as recommended for your filter and household conditions).
✅ If you have pets or allergies, you may need to replace it more often.

Owning a home isn’t about avoiding every repair—it’s about taking care of the little things before they become expensive ones.

Paint on the inside of the home makes things look pretty. Paint on the outside of the home not only makes it look pretty but it protects the wood from the elements preventing wood rot and other damage. Dustin Hudlow
