We are excited to share that City Rescue Mission has been named one of FIVE regional finalists for Chick-fil-A’s 2027 True Inspiration Awards™ — and we are the ONLY Oklahoma organization represented in our region!

That means City Rescue Mission will receive a grant of at least $35,000, with the opportunity to receive up to $200,000 to support our work helping neighbors move from homelessness to home.

Summer may be over, but we're still thinking about the young people who spent part of it serving alongside us. 🧡

This summer, youth groups including Next Step Ministries and Alva First Christian Youth joined us at City Rescue Mission to serve in our kitchen, help behind the scenes and spend time with the people staying at the Mission.

One group made more than 300 sandwiches, prepared 20 gallons of fruit, sorted produce and helped prepare and serve meals for our neighbors. Another took on some behind-the-scenes work, organizing closets and donated items to help our day-to-day operations run more smoothly.

But some of the best moments happened between the tasks. Students and adults shared meals, stories and conversations with our clients and volunteers. They listened, asked questions and learned more about the people behind the work happening here every day.

Thank you to these groups for showing up ready to serve and for bringing so much joy with you. We're grateful for the time, energy and care you shared with our community.

And thank you to every young person who spent part of their summer serving others. We hope you left knowing that your time mattered.

What a great way to celebrate National Nonprofit Day! 🎉

City Rescue Mission was one of a dozen nonprofits invited to spend time with the team at the corporate offices of Express Employment International for their annual Nonprofit Partner Fair.

We had a great time sharing more about City Rescue Mission, answering questions and visiting with Express team members about the work happening right here in our community.

And they surprised us with even more generosity! Express made a donation to support each of the nonprofits participating in the fair, including City Rescue Mission.

Every family who comes to City Rescue Mission has a different story, but they all share one hope: a better future.

That’s why we meet people where they are and walk alongside them as they work toward stable housing. A safe place to sleep, nourishing meals, case management and compassionate support give families the foundation they need to keep moving forward.

Because of caring friends like you, parents have the opportunity to rebuild their lives, children can simply be kids again and hope has room to grow.

Meet Bryce Thompson, President of CORD Construction Services, LLC and one of the newest members of City Rescue Mission’s Board of Directors. 🎉

Bryce’s connection to City Rescue Mission began 15 years ago, not long after he and his wife moved to Oklahoma City.

One Sunday, they visited Frontline Church downtown and sat near the back. Before the service began, a group from City Rescue Mission came in and sat behind them.

“It’s hard to describe, but that Sunday morning experience impacted our lives forever. It stripped away our worldly perspectives and egos by reminding us that everyone, regardless of where we are in life, is in need of the same thing — a Savior.”

Bryce and his wife made Frontline their church home and began volunteering at City Rescue Mission. Years later, being asked to join our Board of Directors was, as Bryce describes it, “truly a full circle moment.”

As he begins serving, Bryce is looking forward to learning more about the complexities of homelessness and where his skills can best serve the Mission. He’s already been encouraged by what he’s learned about our focus on permanent housing and the support that continues after someone moves out of shelter.

“Every person has value, dignity and worth. My hope is for City Rescue Mission to remind our community of this by showing what it means to walk alongside others so they don’t have to walk through the dark valleys alone.”

We’re grateful to have Bryce’s heart for the Mission, willingness to learn and commitment to serving others on our Board of Directors.

This month, we're celebrating another group of graduates who committed to the hard work of building a new future. Each journey looks different, but every story is a reminder that hope can grow one day at a time.
