UPDATE (7/31): A roofing permit is not required for maintenance work in areas of 500 square feet or less OR on new construction.

Starting Aug. 1, contractors and property owners must get a roofing permit from the City of Oklahoma City before beginning SIGNIFICANT roof removal, repair and/or replacement.

The requirement applies to all single-family homes and duplexes within the Oklahoma City limits.

“This ordinance establishes vital oversight of roofing operations within Oklahoma City,” Development Services Director Brock Rowe said. “Given the frequency of severe weather in our region, it is critical that we protect homeowners, especially during times of crisis, by ensuring work is done safely, professionally, and in full compliance with code.”

WHAT TO KNOW:

Customers must present a photo ID along with an original, current Oklahoma City Utilities bill (no photocopies accepted) - OR - they may pull up a copy of their bill using the My OKC Utilities app on their smartphone or other mobile device.

Each residential household may drop off one load of household waste using a passenger vehicle or truck up to a one-ton and one trailer up to 16-feet long. Commercial waste haulers are not allowed.

All regular bulky waste rules apply to Free Landfill Day. Landfills will not accept tires, toxins, electronic waste, appliances containing Freon or other refrigerants, and household hazardous waste, such as car batteries, oil, propane tanks, and pool chemicals.
