When a house goes to auction, most homeowners think everything is gone.

That’s not true.

If your house sells at auction for more than what you owe, the extra money is still yours.

The lender gets paid first.

The remaining funds belong to the homeowner.

Heading into 2026, two incomes can barely touch the same house. That’s not bad luck.

That’s inflation + asset inflation + stacked costs.

Here’s the short version:
In 2000:
• Avg Oklahoma home ≈ $61,000
• Rates were higher
• But price × income made sense

Going into 2026:
• Same Oklahoma home ≈ $215,000+
• Rates are still high
• Prices never came back down
• And now you’re stacking:
– Insurance
– Taxes
– HOA
– Maintenance
– Inflation

You’re not just fighting the house anymore. Your dollar simply isn’t worth what it used to be. What $1 bought in 2000 now takes almost $2 to buy heading into 2026.

That’s lost buying power.

That’s why:

‼️ OKLAHOMA ‼️📉 The Fed may SLASH rates next week. Here is what that means for selling or buying your home.

You may hear people say "the Fed is cutting rates by 25 bps." Most people have no idea what that REALLY means, so here is the super simple version so you know the information the banks already know.

👉 What 25 bps means: Twenty five bps means one quarter of one percent, which is 0.25%. So if the rate goes from 3.75% to 3.50%, that is the cut.

👉 Why the Fed would cut rates: The Fed cuts rates when the economy needs help. And we NEED help!

The job market is slow. Right now, applying for a job is like throwing your resume into a black hole.

Cutting rates makes it cheaper for people and businesses to borrow money.

This helps the economy grow and helps more people find work.

‼️For Buying a Home: When the Fed cuts rates, borrowing money becomes cheaper.

Mortgage rates do not drop right away, but they often start to fall in the next few weeks.
