Mayor David Holt announced exciting news for Oklahoma City! HUD has awarded $25 million toward the redevelopment of Will Rogers Courts and improvements throughout the Westwood Exchange neighborhood.

More than $225 million has now been committed to this project, with the first new homes expected to open in 2029. This is a major investment in the future of the area, and I’m excited to watch the transformation!

Okayyyy we are set on HOT, several more 100°+ days ahead, here are a few simple things you can do to help keep your home cooler and give your system a little break.

☀️ Close blinds and curtains during the hottest part of the day
🌡️ Keep your thermostat at a reasonable, consistent temperature
💨 Run ceiling fans counterclockwise
🏠 Keep exterior doors closed
🧹 Check your HVAC filter
🔥 Avoid the oven and dryer during peak afternoon heat
❄️ And remember—a longer-running A/C can be normal when it’s 100°+ outside!

Most importantly, check on elderly neighbors, outdoor pets, and anyone who may be struggling in this heat. ❤️

Wow!

Last week, I spent a lot of my State of the City address talking about Oklahoma City’s population growth. The magnitude of it is simple to comprehend, but sometimes we just have to stare at the reality in graphic form to truly appreciate it. With that in mind, here’s the graphic I used in my speech. I thought you might find it interesting. I certainly did.

As you see in the graphic, by 2030, our city will have gained 250,000 more residents since 2000. We will have doubled in population from 1970 to 2030. We will have taken 60 years, then 50 years, and then only 30 years to add 250,000 residents.

Our rate of growth leads to the reality that we will top one million residents in the city limits by around 2055 (a milestone reached today by only ten American cities).

This growth is validation for our success and it presents new opportunities, but it will also present challenges, especially to our transportation system. It will demand new commitments to preserve the relative ease of movement we now enjoy. That challenge is one we must meet, and that conversation must continue in the year ahead.

• ⚖️ Inventory: 3.2 months (still a seller’s market, but more balanced)

💬 MYTH vs. REALITY

❌ MYTH:
“No one is buying homes because interest rates are too high.”

✅ REALITY:
June home sales across the OKC Metro were up 17% compared to June of last year.

A total of 2,143 homes sold in June 2026, which is 314 more homes than June 2025.

The truth is, people are still buying homes because life keeps moving. New jobs, growing families, downsizing, and relocations continue to drive the housing market.

Today’s market offers buyers more choices and a little more negotiating power while sellers who price and prepare their homes correctly are still seeing great results.

The market has not stopped. It has simply become more balanced.
