Midwest Living spotlighted Kansas City’s Akoya Omakase as one of the best omakase restaurants in the Midwest.
(And I just happened to celebrate my birthday here a couple weeks ago! 🎉🥂)
Midwest Surprise: Midwest Living named 10 of the best spots to experience the Japanese style of dining in the Midwest. The recognition for Akoya is a well-earned nod to the intimate downtown KC sushi counter located inside the historic Hotel Phillips at 106 W. 12th St.

Fresh Fish: Akoya offers just ten seats at the sushi counter, where Chef Peter Hoang and a team devote themselves entirely to the omakase experience. Pro tip: the lunch special is one of our favorite deals in town: one roll, five pieces of nigiri, gomae salad, and miso soup for just $18.
Comment below if you have gotten to experience this yet!

If your holiday party plans are still sitting on the to-do list, consider this your sign. Argyle Events is booking end-of-year celebrations at two of Kansas City’s most memorable venues.

Take Your Pick: Trade the typical ballroom for the energy of Sporting Park, with unique club spaces, stadium views and plenty of room to celebrate. Or take the party downtown at Three Points, a private rooftop in the Power & Light District featuring skyline views, firepits and an indoor/outdoor atmosphere.

Party Season: Add seasonal menus, festive enhancements, and a team to help bring it all together, and your annual company party might just become the event everyone actually looks forward to.

Lonnie's Reno Club inside The Ambassador Hotel Kansas City, Autograph Collection is hosting a Film to Fork Experience: a night where the movie meets the menu.

Yes, Chef!: The experience is happening on Thursday, September 17th, when resident Chef Joshua Minnich and team will craft a special menu inspired by the 2014 movie Chef. Each course will be timed to memorable moments from the movie, including a signature shot of Don Julio Blanco near the 11-minute mark.

Theater to Table: Haven’t seen the movie? No problem, the menu speaks for itself. (It’s also a great movie, FYI) Dishes include Pasta Aglio e Olio, Bourbon Aged Prime Strip Steak, Mini Cubano Toast, Molten Chocolate Lava Cake, and more.

The show begins at 7 pm, and tickets are $85.
