Take note of local road closures for the 5K this Friday evening.

Friday, July 29th Street Closings and Detours (6:50 PM -8:10 PM)

Becasue of the Ocean Park 5 K Race (our 25th anniversary!) several roads around Ocean Park will be temporarily closed for traffic.

The route map is below. If you live on one of the impacted streets, please come outside and cheer on the runners. If you are not living on one of the above streets, please go to one of the streets listed above and cheer on the runners. Everyone head to the bandstand at 8:15 PM for the awards!

Last night an individual lit a firework on the beach head of Cortland Ave by Surf 6 Restaurant. The firework lit the dunegrass on fire and spread rapidly in the direction of Surf 6. Responding Officers were able to extinguish the fire after using several extinguishers which are carried in our police cruisers.

Attached is a still image of dash camera footage from an Officer that responded and was on scene less than one minute after the firework went off.

Old Orchard Beach Police Department would like to remind everyone that town ordinances prohibit anyone from using, selling or offering for sale consumer fireworks within the Town of Old Orchard Beach. Use of fireworks in Old Orchard Beach can carry fines up to $500, and additional criminal charges. Please keep this in mind if you reside in town or are traveling to Old Orchard Beach, for the safety of Old Orchard Beach residents, guests and property!

July 4th weekend is fast approaching! Professional Firework Displays are scheduled for Sunday, July 3rd and Monday, July 4th, approximate start time 9:30/9:45p. Please plan accordingly as large crowds typically attend these events.
