Hey Guilford, let’s talk about property fraud! 🏠

Property fraud, also called title or deed theft, is when scammers use forged documents and fake identifications to illegally transfer a property title or deed without the owner’s knowledge. The scammer can then list the property for sale or take out a loan against the property, claiming to be the owner.

Property fraud is becoming more prevalent today as cyber criminals exploit every avenue they can to cause harm and steal from everyday citizens. In an effort to combat property fraud, the Guilford Town Clerk’s office has implemented Cott Systems’ PropertyCheckTM, which is a 24/7 service that allows residents to sign up on the Cott Systems’ RECORDhubTM website to receive notifications when official documents are recorded on their property. Users can activate alerts based on their name, via either email or text message, and this is a completely free service available to the Guilford residents!

🚨 BOIL WATER NOTICE UPDATE 🚨

Connecticut Water has provided the following update regarding the mandatory Boil Water Notice, which remains in effect for customers in Clinton, Deep River, Essex, Haddam, Chester, Old Saybrook, Westbrook, Madison, and Guilford after a routine water sample detected the presence of E. coli.

Connecticut Water understands this is frustrating and disruptive, especially during the weekend. The notice was issued out of an abundance of caution and in accordance with Connecticut Department of Public Health requirements while additional testing is underway.

💧 Free drinking water is available (bring your own clean container) at:
• John Winthrop Middle School – Deep River
• Westbrook Fire Department
• I-95 Commuter Lot – Madison

⚠️ Until the notice is lifted, please continue to boil your tap water for one minute before:
• Drinking
• Preparing food
• Making ice
• Brushing teeth
• Washing dishes

Tap water may continue to be used for bathing, showering, and laundry.

If your home is served by a private well, this boil water notice does not apply to you.

Connecticut Water expects to provide another update by 8:00 p.m. tonight, or sooner if new information becomes available.
