ATTENTION!! Samsonville community cleanup day, April 25, 2026!!
Elmendorf Landscaping is proud to partner with Tetta's Market for this yearly event.

Samsonville’s third annual community cleanup will take place on Saturday, April 25, starting at 10 AM.
The cleanup will focus on the sides of the roads in Samsonville, stretching along County Roads 2 and 3, Upper Samsonville Road, Jomar Lane, Krom Road, Kelder Highway and Brown Road. The cleanup zones have been divided up into 10 sections, each ranging from 0.5 mile to 1.5 miles in length. A map can be found at tettasmarket.com under the “Community” tab. Volunteers will choose which section they want to be responsible for and can meander at their own pace, cleaning up both sides of the road along the way. It is recommended that volunteers don’t stray further than 15 feet from the shoulder of the road. Once the red garbage bags are full, tie them up and leave them on the side of the road to be picked up later.
We will provide plastic gloves, bags, pickers, bug spray, hand sanitizer and reflective safety vests. Snacks and refreshments will also be provided for volunteers at Tetta’s before, during and after the cleanup. The safety vests and pickers must be returned at the end of the event to be used again next year.
This year we added the ability for volunteers to register additional roads that do not fall within our designated cleanup area. We will provide all the same equipment listed above, however, volunteers assume all additional responsibility for these roads.
If you are interested in volunteering please sign up at Tetta's, call 845-657-2338 or email [email protected]. Thank you!

Good morning everyone, it would appear that Old Man Winter likes the Hudson Valley this year. After a reprieve in the snow for a few weeks, he's come back, and is extra cranky!

We wanted to give an update about the storm Sunday into Monday.
-First off, we will be out clearing snow, so no need to verify if we're coming.
-Second (and very important), unlike the other storms we have had this season, there is zero frost in the first few inches of any gravel surfaces, and as you may have noticed for the last few days, everything is soft and muddy. This means no matter how careful we are, there will be some stone re-arranged. We have shoes on our plows, but they will not work as well as they usually would due to the extra soft driveways. Again, we will be as careful as we possibly can be, but with this storm it is bound to happen.

-Third, Our trucks are all set up with plows and sanders, and we have spares standing by to make sure any breakdown does not negatively effect our customers. Please keep in mind this is a long duration event of 30 or so hours. Also, please be mindful of complaints against the town, county or state as they will be hard at work getting roads cleared, they are not purposefully ignoring your road, and they are humans and need sleep just like the rest of us.

Finally a few housekeeping items:
1: We use the exact same weather aps that you have on your phone, so calling or texting us asking "when is it going to stop?" or "How much are we going to get" really does not help any of us. In fact the chances are high that it interrupts the little bit of pre storm rest we are trying to sneak in. We also use Hudson Valley Weather and National Weather Service, either of those put the exact same information into your hands as we have in ours. **As a reference point**: The storm on the 25th & 26th of January Tim handled over 130 phone calls and 140+ text chains (resulting in over 1200 text messages back and forth) in a 48 hour period, all while trying to efficiently and effectively clean up the snow. As you may imagine, that took an enormous amount of time away from actual work.
2: We will be actively plowing from about 2pm Sunday until the storm has ended and the last property is cleaned up. There is a good possibility that we will make a couple trips through your property just to keep the main parts of your driveway open for emergency access.
3: The storm is not supposed to end until Monday around noon, that means the actual "cleanup phase" will not actively start until late Monday afternoon. We will do all non essential shoveling and cleanup starting at some point on Tuesday.
4: Please don't have your cars or garbage cans blocking parts of the driveway as that negatively affects our cleanup abilities, and negatively impacts our timing to get your neighbors cleaned out as well.
5: As you may have noticed, we are definitely running out of places to put snow. We will do the very best we can to not block anything, but at this point we are severely limited on areas to push the piles.

Finally, try to enjoy this storm, spend some time outside enjoying the peace, quiet and beauty fresh snow brings, or maybe spend some time by the fire with your favorite book and have a cup of coffee, tea or Hot cocoa for me! As always, thank you for trusting us with your property, and we will do our utmost to get everyone cleared and dug out in a timely fashion.

Good morning everyone, We wanted to give an update about the storm coming in Sunday and Monday. First off, we will be out clearing snow, so no need to verify if we're coming, secondly we have cleared storms that have had significantly more snow than this one is supposed to drop, so this forecast is nothing new for us. Our trucks are all set up with plows and sanders, and we have spares standing by to make sure any breakdown does not negatively effect our customers. Please keep in mind this is a long duration event of 30 or so hours. Good evening everyone, as of typing this we have almost 4 inches of snow on the ground in Olivebridge and it's only been snowing for a little over one hour. As of 630 tonight we will be starting our plow route and will continue until everyone is cleared. Please give all of the folks who are out plowing a bit of time to get everything done, a storm like this is very difficult to get cleared in a timely fashion, and we all are doing our best. One of the most beautiful things about this area of New York is the way the fresh snow looks, it's part of the appeal of our area, and one of the reasons so many folks love to spend Christmas and new years in the Catskills. Try to take a few moments tomorrow morning to spend some time outside in the fresh air, enjoy the beauty of creation & have a cup of Coffee or hot cocoa.

Good morning everyone, I wanted to give an update on the food drive. The following was collected & then donated the same day to two food pantries, one in Olivebridge and one in Shokan:
2500 pounds of non perishable & shelf stable food, 50 rolls of paper towels, 30 boxes of tissues, 194 rolls of toilet paper, 18 bottles of dish soap, over 140 toothbrushes & tooth paste, 30 packs of baby wipes, several boxes of baby formula, and other miscellaneous hygiene items. We also received $247 in cash donations which was turned over to the pantry so they could purchase items as needed. Just as a comparison, last year we collected 1400 pounds of food, so the outpouring of donations surpassed last years numbers by 1100 pounds.

I'd like the specially thank two businesses who were instrumental in the success of this drive:
Primo from Tetta's Market for allowing us to use the store as a drop off location and for their donations.
Jeff Sutton from All of a Sutton Property Maintenance & Construction who came through with an entire truck bed filled with donations.
And of course my wife, Abby Elmendorf for supporting me through these events.

This event to help fill our area food pantries would not have been a success without the help of so many folks in our community who stopped by to donate food and shared the postings about the event. These items help provide for families in need right here in our town.

Shopping local and hiring local businesses to work on your home and property helps give back right into the community here in Olive. At Elmendorf Landscaping we are committed to giving back to worthy causes in the town and Ulster County, and the food drive is certainly one of those worthy causes.

As always, I'm still proud to call Olive home, just as my family has for 13 generations.

Please stay tuned to our page for more community events that we are involved with and help organize.

Well, we just wrapped up an entire week at the Ulster County Fair. To say we had a blast would be an understatement.

Our main goal with all of this is to assist the next generation in learning about and being involved in agriculture. Giving back to our community by sponsoring the kids agricultural events was the perfect logical choice.

For those of you who may not be aware, we'll rewind a little bit:
A few years ago we partnered with the Ulster County Ag Society to sponsor some of the kids events at the fair, specifically the garden tractor pulls. The agreement was that we'd help out on Tuesday, and provide cash payouts to the three "kids classes" in the pull. Well from that moment on the snowball started down the hill and continued to grow! Last year we sponsored the entire Horse arena, supported the 4H kids in the auction, and volunteered our services at the fair all week.

Fast-forward to this year:
-We worked with a professional sound company to update and upgrade the PA system in the horse arena. The old system was pieced together from used parts and over 30 years old. Not only was the old system outdated, but it didn't work well resulting in frustration for the judges and contestants, along with potential safety concerns.
-We provided $450 in payouts to the kids classes in garden tractors. These kids are learning about mechanics by building their own tractors.
-We Volunteered in the Horse Arena Tuesday and Wednesday, setting up, running machines and announcing
-We provided a UTV for the arena Superintendent to assist with his official duties and to assist with transporting some folks who were mobility challenged.
-We provided $850 in payouts to the kids involved with horse shows in the arena, these events cover Western, English and Draft Horse shows.
-We purchased a "Club project" from one of our local 4H clubs, resulting in money flowing back into that club. By having that money flow back into the club, it will allow them the opportunity to work on larger and more intricate projects. Along with supporting the idea that hard work and dedication and doing your best at a job does pay off.
-We built and maintained a "picture area" behind the horse arena to provide a nice area for contestants to take pictures with their prize winning animals.
-We attended at least 20 meetings throughout the year in preparation for these events and our involvement in them.
-We volunteered tools and services at various points through the last year to assist with setup, breakdown and maintenance of the horse arena and horse barn.
-We provided safety gear for the volunteers in the arena during motor sports events like the tractor pulls, garden tractor pulls and truck pull.

We'd like to take a moment to thank all of our valued clients. Without all of you we would not be able to support our community and give back in the way that we do. We truly believe that one of the best things about shopping local and supporting local businesses is that the money stays right here in the community. You also get the satisfaction of knowing that some of the money paid to us goes right back into our local community, and sponsors the local children who are involved in agriculture.

There is so much more that we could say about last week, but we will end with this.

There were many people who volunteered their work tirelessly all week to make everything a success, either by physically working at the fair every day, or by supporting those who were working, and taking a "week off work, to vacation at the fair". Some folks were very visible working in the publics eye, and some were working behind the scenes to help everything flow as planned. A special thanks to every one of you, and we will see you next year in the Elmendorf Landscaping Arena at the Ulster County Fair.
