Immediately to the north of Millard North High School, Broadmoor is building apartments that will surround a new parking garage that has already been constructed.

Creighton University broke ground on a new sophomore residential hall on the southeast corner of 21st & Cuming Street, across the street from the dental school. The 5-story, 151,000 sq. ft. building will house 400 students. The university has made significant changes to its downtown campus in recent years, including the demolition of aged structures as well as the construction of a new residence hall for freshman and the Jesuit residence.

The future Boho Flats project is now mostly enclosed at the northwest corner of 13th & Pine Street in Little Bohemia. When completed next year, the 4-story building will have 59 apartments and 5,000 sq. ft. of retail space. The new building is going up on the former Ethnic Sandwich Shop building site.

The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Children’s Nebraska has received a Gold-Level Beacon Award for Excellence from the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses, distinguishing the unit’s exceptional patient care and healthy work environments. It is one of just 13 NICUs nationwide to achieve the honor.

The $2.6 million Platte River pedestrian bridge opened in early August connecting Sarpy County and Cass County. The bridge runs adjacent to Highway 34/75 and connects Allied Road on the north side of the river near Falconwood Park to Beach Road on the south. The bridge trail is only pedestrian/bike crossing over the Platte River aside from the Lied Platte River Bridge nearly 16 miles west.



The Bellevue City Council is considering a rezoning application submitted by the Bellevue Housing Authority for a vacant lot southeast of 9th & Childs Road. The authority plans to build a 7-plex, consisting of six 3-bedroom units and one 2-bedroom unit. The project is not being built with low income tax credits but will be affordable housing targeted for families who make up to 80 percent of the area’s median income.

The City of Bellevue will engage MCL Construction as construction manager at risk for its Bellevue Bay waterpark project. Bellevue approved a $4.5 million contract with MCL, which has previous experience managing construction of similar facilities including the Salvation Army Kroc Center in South Omaha and the recently opened Gretna Crossing YMCA and Outdoor Aquatic Center. Tree Drop Off-
An additional debris drop-off location is now open at Al Veys field north of 60th & Harrison for residential tree debris. All locations are open 7am-7pm. Curbside collection of tree debris still on track to begin next week, once all streets have been cleared of debris. Tree debris should be left on the curb by Monday August 5 to ensure collection. Limbs do not need to be cut into small sections or bundled. Please do not put debris in yard waste bags for this special collection, yard waste bags are also not accepted at drop off sites where the debris will be mulched. You can always purchase the pre-paid yard waste bag stickers for FCC collection on your regular pick-up day if you prefer that option
