When you ask for a mountain view, but nature takes it a little too literally! šŸ˜…

That clip is from when I was out ruling out land in East Tennessee. Photos never quite capture the reality until you show up and realize the ā€œacreage" goes straight down a cliff. As incredible as a view may be, building a kitchen on a 90-degree slope just isn't happening!

Now that Iā€™m working with clients right here in the Omaha, Nebraska area, the terrain might be a lot flatter, but that same habit stays with me.

People think being a real estate agent is easy.
Show a house. Show some land.

Write a contract. Collect a commission. šŸ˜‚

Wellā€¦ let me tell you about Northeast Tennessee real estate. ā›°ļø

Sometimes we were part real estate agent, part daredevil, part detective, and part backwoods navigator.

First, we had to FIND the property.

No GPS? No problem.
No road signs? Weā€™ll figure it out.
No address? Weā€™ll start asking questions.
For Sale sign missing? Now weā€™re detectives. šŸ•µļøā€ā™€ļø

Then came the road.

Sharp hairpin turns.
Steep drop-offs.
One-lane mountain roads with no shoulder and nowhere to pull over.
Loose gravel.
Mud.
Rocky roads.
Blind curves.
Fallen branches.
And the ever-present question:

ā€œCan we actually drive all the way to this house or piece of land?ā€

We prayed a truck or car wasnā€™t coming around the next curve.

And if one was?

We prayed they had a better place to back up than we did. šŸ˜¢

We prayed there would be a little spot somewhere ahead where someone could pull off.šŸ˜¢

And yesā€¦ Iā€™ve walked up a few of those very steep mountain roads.

Then there were the wild animals.

But honestly? šŸ»šŸ¦ŒšŸšŸ¦Ø

They were probably the least of our concerns.

Because nothing gets your attention quite like driving around a blind mountain curve, looking at a drop-off on one side and a wall of trees on the other, wondering if the road actually leads to the property youā€™re supposed to show.

And somehowā€¦

we usually found it.

Real estate isnā€™t always pretty kitchens, open houses and pretty views.

Sometimes itā€™s muddy shoes, missing signs, questionable roads, a little prayerā€¦

ā€¦and a whole lot of determination. šŸ˜‚ā›°ļø

Mountain real estate agents know.
I am proud to have been a mountain real estate agent. ā›°ļø

Those roads taught me a few things: donā€™t give up, think on your feet, figure things out when the directions arenā€™t clear, and donā€™t be afraid of a challenge.

Now Iā€™m here in Omaha, Nebraska, and while the challenges may look a little different, I bring that same strength, determination and courage with me.

So when you need someone who will dig for answers, track down the details and keep going when things get complicatedā€¦

Let me be your detective.
Your investigator.
Your problem solver.
Your navigator.
Your advocate.
Your resource.
Your boots-on-the-ground person.
And the person who doesnā€™t quit when the road gets a little rough.

Because real estate isnā€™t always about finding the perfect house.

Sometimes itā€™s about finding the way forward.

And thatā€™s something I know how to do. ā¤ļø
