I want to congratulate Clarinda and Richard on their recent purchase! As residents of the Gifford Park Neighborhood Association, it was a longtime dream of theirs to purchase a years-long vacant 3/4 acre lot, “Green Space” adjacent to their property. While it was owned and carefully maintained by Father Flanagan’s Boys Home, aka Boys Town, their concern was that one day it would be sold and developed for commercial or multi-family use. Fast forward to 2022 and this property was listed for sale. It attracted many buyers and developers, and likely could have sold for more than the asking price. The fear of losing the Green Space was real and it’s loss would have been devastating to the community. My clients quickly made an offer with the sincere pledge of the Gifford Park Neighborhood Association that the space remain green and undeveloped, to the benefit of the whole community. Boys Town eagerly accepted. This community will forever be grateful to FFBH for their purchase and vow to maintain it in perpetuity. I’m happy to help them achieve this dream. Real estate transactions aren’t always about the highest dollar or wealth-driven developments. Sometimes it’s about the greater good for a community and embracing all that it has to offer. As another longtime resident aptly stated, “What would threaten this unique neighborhood is taking it for granted”. I think we can all learn something from Gifford Park🏡
