Before the long weekend begins, it's worth pausing to remember why Labor Day exists. 🕰️

Over 140 years ago, workers across America faced 12-hour shifts, seven days a week, in unsafe conditions — with little protection and even less recognition. Children worked alongside adults, and rest was rarely an option.

It was the courage of everyday workers — who marched, organized, and spoke up — that changed things. On September 5, 1882, 10,000 workers took unpaid time off to march through New York City, standing together for fair wages, safer workplaces, and reasonable hours. Their efforts eventually led President Grover Cleveland to sign Labor Day into law as a federal holiday in June 1894.
