Our President, Michael Maroney was excited to show our new one-story homes to two absolute icons: Cathy Hughes and Johnny "The Jet" Rodgers.

When people talk about "North Omaha Royalty," these are the names they’re talking about. Their impact on entrepreneurship and our community is legendary, so having them walk through these new homes built with real quality and accessibility in mind was a huge moment for us.

Seeing the progress, we’re making in North Omaha through the eyes of those who paved the way is a POWERFUL reminder of why we do what we do.

Did you know? The Jewell building, home of OEDC is one of the most culturally significant landmarks in North Omaha. Built in 1923 by James Jewell Sr., it served as a vital hub for the city's African American community for decades.

Yesterday, our President and CEO, Michael Maroney, joined Carmen Tapio, Heath Mello, and Pete Festersen yesterday for a dynamic "Turning Vision Into Results" morning breakout session. During the Empowerment Network 's Rebuilding the Village Conference, Michael led a powerful presentation on the trajectory of OEDC’s impact. He shared insights into our past successes, current initiatives, and the bold future of urban development in our community.

We are incredibly proud of the collaboration shown yesterday. When we invest in place-based solutions and align our visions with dedicated community partners, everybody wins. The energy in the room was a beautiful reminder of what we can achieve together for the future of Omaha.
