OIPA Community Advisory Committee (CAC) Quarterly Meeting Recap
Thank you to everyone who joined us for the Omaha Inland Port Authority Community Advisory Committee (CAC) Quarterly Meeting on June 16. The evening was filled with meaningful discussion, exciting updates, and continued momentum for economic growth and community investment throughout the Inland Port boundary.
Welcome New CAC Members
We were pleased to welcome Kimara Snipes and Terri Sanders as new members of the Community Advisory Committee. We also thank the CAC subcommittee members who attended and contributed their time, expertise, and passion for North Omaha’s future.
Economic Development Momentum Continues
Representatives from the Omaha Economic Development Corporation (OEDC) shared encouraging updates regarding business attraction efforts within the OIPA boundary.
Highlights included:
• Four active projects expected to move forward in the coming months.
• More than 250 potential jobs could be created through four active development projects currently advancing within the Inland Port boundary.
• One major project, expected to be announced next week, could bring up to 150 jobs and fully occupy the 150,000-square-foot facility at 5906 Abbott Drive.
These developments represent significant progress toward creating new employment opportunities and expanding economic activity within North Omaha.
Supporting Local Businesses
OIPA highlighted the success of its current $300,000 Impact Grant Program and provided an update on the planned launch of a $1.2 million Business Loan Fund, which will expand access to capital for entrepreneurs and small businesses operating within the Inland Port boundary.
Housing Development Initiative
OIPA also announced the release of a Letter of Interest (LOI) process for housing developers, inviting partners to submit innovative housing concepts and development ideas that align with the organization’s goals for increasing housing opportunities and supporting neighborhood revitalization.
