I thought everyone would enjoy this ad! 
Did you ever think while thumbing through a magazine you would come across an ad where you could order a home (three bedrooms, one bath, living room, dining room, kitchen and foyer) and have it delivered to your site for $4200 ($72,000 in todays market). Well back in the 40s this was a reality. All you needed was a hammer. Because EVERYTHING else was included pre-cut too. It was like a huge Lincoln Log set.

The Ranch, another home that you will see a lot of in our area. Developers built these homes for the returning GIs of WWII. These homes feature one level living. Easy to build onto by adding a level. A subset of these homes are the bilevel’s or raised ranches and splits which just have a few stairs for a separation of the living area and sleeping area. Colonial probably the most popular home for most home buyers usually on the higher end in price. Traditional colonials have the living area on the main floor and the sleeping quarters on the second, a total separation. There are many types of colonials to name a few British colonial, saltbox colonial, French colonial, Dutch colonial, German colonial. The next few days worth of posts I will focus on Types of homes found in NJ. Starting with the Cape Cod. You will see a lot of this style home found in Northern NJ. Though it’s an older style home, it was an easy build for developers post WWII with the large amount of GIs returning home. These homes were thrown up in the 1940s. A traditional Cape Cod home was built with 2 bedrooms, 1 full bath, eat in kitchen and a living room all on one floor. Cape Cod homes were easy for the homeowner to finish the basement and add two rooms to the attic. Which you see in most Capes in our area. If this was informative please like our Instagram and page.
