We are in the middle of Turtle Season here on the Gulf Coast, and that means nesting mamas are trying to make safe, temporary homes for their babies until they are hatched. In order to protect these turtles, Share the Beach was established to advocate for their livelihood and habitat. This program aims to reduce human influences on sea turtles, monitor their nests and hatchlings, and promote the conservation of these creatures.

We want to remind our residents and guests that if you encounter a sea turtle nest, keep your distance and don't bother it. It is a federal crime to disturb sea turtles or their nests.

How can you be sea-turtle friendly?
🚫 Do not disturb sea turtle nests.
👣 Leave Only Footprints! Do not leave beach gear, holes, or trash on the beach.
🔦 Avoid using flashlights or flash photography on the beach at night. If you do use a light at night, please use red filter lights.
💡 Turn off outside patio lights and shield indoor lights from shining onto the beach at night.
↔️ Keep your distance (at least 30 feet) from adult turtles that come onto the beach to nest.
🐢 Leave sea turtle tracks undisturbed.
