We are one month in to turtle nesting season. It’s been busy.

📈 May Nesting Totals 📈

May ended with 14 sea turtle nests documented along Alabama’s Gulf Coast, including 13 Loggerhead nests and 1 Kemp’s Ridley nest.

We also recorded 13 false crawls this month—evidence that our nesting moms are busy checking out Alabama’s beaches! If you happen to see a sea turtle on the beach, remember to keep your distance, stay low, and never use white lights or flash photography. Please report all nesting, injured, or distressed sea turtles by calling 866-Sea-Turtle (866-732-8878).
