How to Help: Hurricane Ida Relief efforts in Orange Beach
As our community looks to pay generosity forward to those who helped us after Hurricane Sally but are now recovering from Hurricane Ida's devastation, relief efforts are well underway.
The Island Church - Orange Beach will be delivering supplies to Louisiana and other hard-hit areas and will continue to accept donations (list below). The Orange Beach Middle & High School PTO organized a very successful grassroots donation drive earlier in the week for Comeback Coolers, which is an organization that helped Orange Beach residents following Sally.
Now, the Orange Beach Elementary PTO is repaying kindness to the United Cajun Navy. OBES PTO is asking for toys and books to bring comfort to children affected by Hurricane Ida. They have teamed with the United Cajun Navy to reach families dealing with the stormβs aftermath. A drop-off donation box has been set up outside of OBES until Thursday afternoon - September 2nd.
Additionally, if anyone is wanting to make a trip over to Louisiana to haul supplies and needs a destination, there are several places requesting assistance. Please contact Chris Litton at the City of Orange Beach for more information on where deliveries are needed. He can be reached at 251-980-5946 or 251-979-0134.
