We hope that everyone is staying safe!

Please make sure, if you are in a high risk area for fires, that you are prepared and have a bag packed and ready with essentials, stock up on medicine if needed, always have a full tank of gas, and make sure to have a little cash in your bag as well.

With a pandemic going around, extreme heat, and fires, we want to make sure we are not adding more stress into our lives.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) provides information on how to stay safe and healthy before, during, and after a wildfire including avoiding health impacts from wildfire smoke and cleaning up safely.

Lets take a moment to remember Kobe Bryant! Bryant was an 18-time All-Star who led the Lakers to five NBA championships and died on Jan. 26, alongside his daughter Gianna.

Orange County supervisors picked an easy-to-remember date to designate as Kobe Bryant Day. It’s Aug. 24, chosen for the two jersey numbers, 8 and 24, the late Lakers legend wore during his 20-year career. That date is also a day after Bryant’s birthday. He would have been 42 this year.

Both of Bryant’s jersey numbers have been retired by the Lakers.

We’re in the Dog Days of Summer -- the hottest, muggiest days of the year!

While you’re waiting for cooler weather, here’s some tips on how to stay cool and productive:

-Take a dip in the pool/ cold shower
-Find a shade tree with a hammock or have a picnic
-Eat popsicles and drink lots of water
-Make pasta salad for dinner (in the morning when its cooler) or cook something outside!

Want to make a difference in the world and improve our environment? Next time you're out on a walk, camping, or at the beach, do your part and always try to leave a place better than you found it.

Since we are all home a little more than usual and spending more time online shopping, remember to recycle as much as possible. Even allow your kids to color on the boxes first so to save paper!

If you're looking to go out for a date night or just to get out of the house. Comedians are taking to the stage with a Drive-In feel! At the Irvine Spectrum you can pull up to the top of the parking structure and watch a live performance through an FM station in your car.

So far, the Live Comedy Drive-In Series includes Hot Nights, Cool Comics with Erik Griffin, Ian Edwards, Jesus Trejo, Ian Bagg and Chris Porter on Aug. 15; Brad Williams on Aug. 22; Fortune Feimster on Aug. 29; and Maz Jobrani on Sept. 5. All performances begin at 8 p.m. (with doors at 6 p.m.) and tickets are $125 per vehicle (the number of passengers must not exceed the number of safety belts in the vehicle). All tickets must be purchased in advance at Improv.com/Irvine and are first-come, first parked.

It's National Ice Cream Sandwich Day!

Many countries around the world have their own version of the ice cream sandwich. In Iran for example, rose or pistachio flavored ice cream is sandwiched between two thin wafers, while in Vietnam, street vendors sell ice cream stuffed between two layers of bread.

Our pool is open! So we will be enjoying this warm summer day with an ice cream sandwich to celebrate.

Something fun to do this weekend might be to go on a hike and get out of the house!

Peters Canyon Lake View Trail is a 2.2 mile heavily trafficked loop trail located near Orange, that features a lake and is good for all skill levels. The trail offers a number of activity options and is dog friendly, but they must be kept on leash.
