B.A.R.E. Loans: I’ve had a few clients come to me saying that their mailboxes have become inundated with offers to lower their mortgage payment with a great interest rate. These kinds of letters (all of these came to my father) can get confusing and more often than not, the real interest rate you end up with is not even close to the offer. It’s how they get you in the door and you become a victim of the “sunken cost fallacy”.

Look at the fine print and try and catch some of these zing words.

Rates are low, but if it looks too good to be true, well, then, it probably is. These letters can also look like its coming from your current lender when it’s not. Give me a ring if you want an honest answer to your refinancing questions. I’m that person who tells you like it is and shoots straight from the hip.
