A home I recently did a radon measurement at had an average of 58.7 pCi/l. The EPA recommended action level for mitigation is 4.0 pCi/l and higher.
Do I typically get readings this high? No
Is it common in Northern Illinois to be above the 4.0 pCi/l action level? My answer is that it's not uncommon
Radon is an odorless and colorless gas and is the 2nd leading cause of lung cancer.
Can radon be easily mitigated? Yes
A radon level around 59 pCi/L has historically been compared to the lung-cancer risk associated with smoking roughly 3 packs of ci******es per day.
Every home has radon but do you know the level of radon in your home?
