Toledo was founded on this day 185 years ago! 🕰 Here are some fun facts about the early days of our beloved hometown:

📍 Ohio won the short-lived "Toledo War" between Michigan over a strip of land that included Toledo.

📍 In its earliest days, Toledo's population was roughly 2,000 people, and consisted of two areas; Port Lawrence (South) and Vistula (North.)

📍 Most of Toledo was a frog-filled swamp 🐸, which earned Toledo the nickname Frogtown."

📍 Toledo's early economy focused on shipbuilding 🚢 and forestry 🌲, but most now know it as "The Glass City." The city grew quickly + thousands of Europeans arrived to take advantage of this new + blossoming city.
