If buying a house is somewhere on your radar - even if you think you’re still a year or two away here are 3 things I would NOT do:
1️⃣ Believe the headlines.
National housing headlines are designed to get clicks, not tell you what’s happening in your price range or your local market. Don’t let a headline convince you that you can’t buy before you actually know your options.
2️⃣ Start looking at houses before talking to a lender.
I know. Looking at houses is the fun part. 😍But a good lender can help you figure out what you actually qualify for, what the payment looks like, and what you may want to work on before you fall in love with a house.
3️⃣ Wait until you have 20% saved for a down payment.
Even with the current market you can’t out save the increase in home values.
You absolutely do NOT need 20% down to buy your first home. There are conventional, FHA and other low-down-payment options — and depending on your situation, down payment assistance may be available too.
The biggest mistake might just be assuming you’re not ready without actually finding out.
If homeownership is a goal — now or eventually — I’m always happy to help you figure out what your first step should be. No pressure. No “are you ready to buy this weekend?” vibes. 🙂↔️
