Mark Morrell from ERC Specialists came to RevRoad to give a training to Provo Businesses. He used Disney as the stellar example who trains their employees to live and breath the Disney culture.
Let me give some context for this picture:
Every night Fireworks explode through the Disneyland Park. But this photo was captured when a little girl, just outside Cinderella's castle, shared a moment she will never forget - nor will her parents :)
As soon as the fireworks exploded, the girl clutched her ears in fear. Cinderella saw her, dropped down to her level and said to the girl, "Are you scared of fireworks too?" The girl nodded timidly. Cinderella then escorted the girl and her family to her private balcony and covered the girl's ears with every firework that went off.
Now Mark's point to this was interesting. What if Cinderella's supervisor hadn't been able to find Cinderella because she had left her post that night, and had reprimanded her for not being where she was supposed to be? Do you think Cinderella would ever do something like that again?
No. Probably not.
Once we train employees to live and breath the culture of the business, we want them to improvise! But if we stifle the creativity, we might accidentally squash our culture.
Monday thoughts for businesses owners: Train employees to be "off task, but on purpose." Then the magic happens. :)
