The Fed kept rates steady (again), but Fed Chairman Jerome Powell sounded more dovish than he has previously, and the majority of Fed members are still projecting 2-3 rate cuts before year-end 2024. Mortgage rates dropped back below 7%, and new home starts and existing home sales both surprised positively!
